My parents are the best. They were kind enough to purchase a Vitamix for James and I. Mostly because they bought Brian one, and then I made some jokes about my mom having a favorite child, and then lo and behold, I got one too! (Manipulation: 60% of the time, works every time).
Just jokes. I know my parents love us equally! They have always strived to maintain a fairness and balance so neither my brother nor I have ever felt, in the slightest, that one was more favoured. However, I wasn't about to let a Vitamix pass me by! I have CROHN'S DISEASE, MOM.
Today seemed like a fitting day to bust it out. After all, I am in recovery mode from the stagette I threw Melissa yesterday. Time to detox my liver! Time to drink ONLY JUICE FROM NOW ON!
Today's juice consisted of not one but TWO types of Kale (party noises!), 1/2 a lemon, a green apple, two stalks of celery, a handful of parsley, ice, and about 1/2 cup of coconut water.
I'll be the first to admit that this tastes exactly like it looks: Garden. But not in an unpleasant way. I feel approximately 100 times healthier for drinking this. I didn't bother to strain it because I want the pulp and I wanted it to me more like a meal - fibrelicious.
James made a terrible face when he tasted it. I think if you're expecting this particular concoction to be sweet, you'd be in for a shock. We're used to smoothies that we sometimes add spinach to, because that's all our blender can handle. The Vitamix can literally liquify anything, so no vegetable is safe. I think carrot would be a good addition to this to add a touch of sweetness.
Personally, I really enjoyed it. It felt like a meal. Which it was. Lunch, to be exact.
I'm super excited to play around with this and come up with awesome recipes. Did you know that I can make SOUP in this thing? It will heat it up too! Crazy town. And it couldn't be easier to wash - you put water and soap in it and turn it on. That's my kind of appliance, yo.
Adventures in blending!
